The 2013 Verizon | NFL campaign was another exciting one for sure. During this time period Verizon was becoming one of the biggest sponsors of the NFL and as a result their sponsored player roster started growing. The big idea behind this campaign is that NFL Mobile, combined with Verizon’s network, allows you to take the NFL with you anywhere you go.
The visual catch here was that due to scheduling restraints we couldn’t shoot the athletes in their action environments. We had to shoot them separately and through smoke and mirrors, combine them later. Another challenge was directing these athletes to recreate game-like movements in a studio environment. If their movements and expressions didn’t feel real, it wouldn’t work. Well, needless to say, it worked. And the amount of NFL Mobile downloads went through the roof after this campaign launched.
